Your mindset matters more than DNA

I read a book that changed my mindset forever in regards to how our thoughts effect us physically.  The book was You are the Placebo by Joe Dispenza and although some of it I took with a grain of salt I really did come to appreciate that MINDSET MATTERS and has a HUGE EFFECT on our physical well being and health.

Dr. Casey Jo shared some data with me recently that also blew my mind.

 A recent study tested:

Giving participants fake genetic results had a huge impact on participants capacity for exercise and their inclination to overeat.

Group 1 was (falsely) told that they were genetically inclined, have lower endurance and struggle with longer workouts.

When tested, their endurance, oxygen uptake, and lung capacity decreased compared to baseline measures.

Group 2 was (falsely) told that they were genetically inclined to easily feel full and in turn far less likely to overeat.

When tested, their reported fullness increased and ghrelin, which is our major hunger hormone, decreased in comparison to baseline measures.

Here is the real kicker! “Those who believed they had genetic disadvantages or advantages (but didn’t) displayed stronger physical impacts compared to those that ACTUALLY have these genetic variants.” Kasey Jo

So what does that mean?

Mindset seems to play an equal or even greater role that does our DNA in shaping some of our bodies reactions to diet and exercise.” Research’s comments.

How phenomenal is this!!! And yet it makes total sense.  If you think you can…you can.
