Which do you identify with?
I failed. Its over
I’m either a natural or I shouldn’t even try. That’s just how it is
You don’t know my family/friends/colleagues.
You are giving me feedback? Who do you think you are?
I don’t like competition. (secret thought) I don’t like others seeing my weaknesses.
I am so overwhelmed. I should throw in the towel!
It’s too hard / confusing. It’s just not for me!
I have never been able to do that. Why try now?
No, I won’t do that! Yeah, I don’t like that!
Bad things ALWAYS happen to me. It’s just my life.
How are they so successful? They must be cheating somehow?
They are such a “goody two shoes”.
I’ve been doing this for weeks and it’s not working. Clearly, it’s not me, it’s the plan.
I failed. Time to regroup and go again.
I’ll figure it out. Even if I learn as I go.
Let’s do this! I love a good adventure!
That’s interesting! I never knew that. I love learning!
Thank you for your feedback! I know you want to help me be my best.
They are so successful! Good for them. What can I learn from their success?
I love to try new things. Yeah, it’s uncomfortable but that’s ok.
Life is crazy right now but my best is enough.
I don’t have to be perfect, I just have to give it my all!
I can not control what happens but I can control my attitude!
I see my weaknesses and it motivates me to improve.
How do I make a shift from closed to growth?
Stop seeing things as failures but opportunities to learn.
Daily meditate and reflect on 5 things that you are grateful for.
Put sticky notes all around with things ways that you show up and work hard
Read a book or article about someone’s success and hard work.
Listen to a podcast on mindset and personal development or growth.
Ask a friend what your strengths are. Write them down.
Write down a list of all the things in your life you thought you couldn’t do but did!
View Challenges as Opportunities.
Value Actions over results.
Surround yourself with people who have a growth mindset.
Ask friends or family who have a growth mindset what helps them to maintain that.
Unfollow and stop watching and stop listening to things that make you feel down or drained.
Stop using Absolutes. I NEVER. I ALWAYS. I CAN’T. I WON’T.
We see this common thread amongst our clients. The clients that approach everything in life with a growth mindset truly do see the most success! So we have and will continue to equip ourselves with the tools to help clients who struggle with that closed mindset to help make the shift.
What has helped you when things seem bleak or closing in?
Great ideas to maintain a growth mindset—thanks Amie!!
