Animals just like humans store toxins in their fat. This is why we often hear the recommendation to eat leaner cuts of meat. This can be an easy way to minimize exposure to excess antibiotics, hormones, environmental toxins and other things that an animal may have been exposed to.โฃ

When buying animal protein, look for words like organic, grass-fed, cage-free, wild-caught, free-range, pastured, etc. It will likely be a few dollars more than what weโre used to. If youโre on a super tight budget? Just buy the leanest cuts of what you can. Take a look at the nutrition label for how much fat the item and try to keep it on the lower end.โฃ

This way, we can shop accordingly and know which to prioritize on organic vs where we might elect for conventional produce. That being said, fruit and veggies is better than no fruits and veggies so DO NOT get too hung up on organic!โฃ

Weโd recommend skipping the ones with tons of sauces/spices. Weโd also recommend slightly undercooking what the directions suggest, or we may risk soggy and sad veggies. Then feel free to season with your own butter, olive oil, spices and all the goodness.โฃ
