Easy Ways to stay on track when the munchies hit! 

Take control of your snacking and find some balance for you and the whole family!

“Betcha can’t eat just ONE!” ONE serving that is!

This slogan was made popular by a famous snack food company but the honest truth is… these snack foods are engineered to make you crave and eat more that just a serving.

Do you keep returning to the bag of…

  • Popcorn
  • Chips
  • Crackers
  • Skittles
  • M&M’s
  • Pretzels

Pretty soon, you’ve devoured the whole bag!

That doesn’t mean that we can’t enjoy these things. 

How do we find balance? 

  • A Helpful guideline that we like to help our clients follow is the 80 / 20 Rule
  • What is that?
  • 80% of your DAILY nutrition should be whole / Real foods
  • The other 20% can be processed or packaged
  • This can help you to find the balance of health and reality that we all need.

Here are some helpful tips:  

When you bring home the bag…

  • Portion it out into serving sizes right away!
  • Then when you go to grab a treat you are not tempted to eat more than what a serving is.
  • When you are headed to the pool, lake or any excursion. Leave the bag or box at home
  • Portion out a serving for each person in the family so none of you are tempted to over indulge!

Along with those snacky things that you enjoy…Remember the 80 / 20 Rule

  • Portion out cut up veggies like carrots, cucumbers, celery, snap peas, radishes or peppers
  • Clean Prepare & Cut up apples, mangoes or oranges.
  • Portion out grapes, cherries,or berries.

If things are clean and cut up, everyone is more likely to eat it.

In Review:

  • Portion out those snacks that you have a tendency to eat more than a serving of
  • Be sure to include lots of veggies and fruit to balance out our daily intake!
