Is Discipline your downfall?
Do not let your habits reflect those of the pygmy blue tongue lizard. They are so lazy, they don’t actively catch their prey. Instead they lay in their burrow with their head pointing up toward the entrance waiting for something to fall in. They don’t even leave to drink. They rely on raindrops and dew that form around the burrow opening to fall into their mouths.
If you struggle with discipline – Focus on these 4 things:
Stick with the basics – Have a daily routine. Create a routine for food, fitness, and work. Time blocks the basic things that have to happen daily and then fill in the blanks.
Eat real whole foods – If it comes from a package, box or bottle it can be hard to moderate because it has likely been designed to trigger enjoyment and overconsumption. Instead fill you day with whole real foods and fill in with those fun little extras that you want.
Keep an emergency food kit handy – You will rarely catch me without a fuel for fire, a protein bar, a bag of jerky or an apple. I always have something with me because goodness knows I do not want to meet hunger in a dark alley or empty handed! We will not emerge in a good place!
Let go of perfectionism and stick to habits – I understand the pull to take on fun new fads and go all in however once will power comes up short the plan is scrapped! Instead, focus on basic habits that you can maintain no matter what! You will get better results in the long run!
