You have probably all heard the famous speech given by the Navy seal William McRaven about why you should make your bed everyday!
For me Making my bed each day means something.
It means that I am committed to:
Do things even when I don’t feel like it or motivated
.
.
To focus on organization and productivity over the “emergency room” mentality of just rushing to the next fire or task that needs addressed.
.
.
Take on a task and complete it which creates momentum for the whole day.
.
.
Rise to the task or the occasion no matter how messy
.
.
Do the mundane in order to be great!
.
.
When we were first married Chad would always say “why make the bed? It is just going to get messy again!” I get that, true statement however, how good does it feel to crawl into a bed that’s been made. Crisp, clean, cool sheets to snuggle up in. As opposed to wrinkled, crumpled sheets and blankets left in the same place from the night before. I just doesn’t set me up for a rested wonderful night’s sleep. The other thing that I LOVE about a made bed…every time you walk by or into that room it feels clean, put together, organized! That can give you a sense of peace, accomplishment and momentum to tackle the rest of the day!
So although this is real life yes, how does this principle apply to even greater tasks that impact our daily lives?
When it comes to health, nutrition, fitness. “Make your Bed!”
Meaning:
Do what needs to be done even when you don’t feel like it.
.
.
Focus on what really matters and don’t allow the little distractions like sweets or the leaderboard to pull you away from what really matters.
.
.
Take on the challenge and make it happen. Easy or hard. Commit and do it!
.
.
Do the boring stuff because it matters. Mobilize, strengthen, eat your veggies and protein.
Although it’s not always rainbow and butterflies you will see how great you will feel and function each and everyday if you would just MAKE YOUR BED.
