1 – Sitting on the couch waiting for the pain to go away?
2 – Continue training with the same intensity & no modifications.
3 – Resorting to painkillers as the solution
4 – Living in Fear
5 – Thinking it will last forever
Pain is the body’s way of telling you something. Take time to listen, understand and figure out what. Reach out to a coach if you’re struggling to find the answers.
None of these things are a solution. The solution probably lies with:
- Addressing a Pattern of Movement
- The Number of reps
- The Load lifted
- The amount of overall Stress that is in your life currently
- Your Diet
- Your Sleep
- Your Recovery Practices
Oftentimes we don’t pay attention to those things in the way we should until we experience an injury or pain. Sad but True! I’ve been there too.
Let’s commit to training smarter not harder.
For me number 5 is one I fight. I have to think big picture and remember a year or two (if I spent the time I should it would be shorter…I’m aware) of focus strengthening or creating better patterns is worth it in the long run!
How about you? Which of these traps have you fallen into?
